This honor will not replace the loss suffered by his loved ones, Troop C and the rest of us but it will help us to remember Trooper Skinner's able service and ultimate sacrifice for New York State.
As the first anniversary of his death just passed, it’s important to remember Christopher Skinner as he was: a dedicated State Trooper, a loving father, a farmer and an all-around good person. His loss left a hole in the lives of so many.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t be there for the bill's passage due to health issues but my colleague and former State Trooper, Senator Pat Gallivan, read a statement on my behalf and then eloquently added some of his own kind words.
Tragedies like this painfully remind us of the dangers our brave first responders face every day. We should be most grateful to our police, firefighters and ambulance workers for putting their lives as risk to keep us safe.
The bill has been delivered to the Assembly where it is sponsored by Members of Assembly Crouch and Lupardo.
